Practise or Jb

Hey people, just a general question, after qualifying finals what would u prefer,PRACTISE or JOB.Ok i know its a matter of personal choice but i recently met a person who was the area finance head of 3 cement plants of a  large manufacturing concern. He is a CA of 1984 batch and he was calling us madams and sirs(we were there for their statutory audit). We were all articles without any senior, but one thing which he said influenced me a lot. He said being in practise makes u real CA(no offence plz). In industry ur knowledge becomes limited to that industry only, but in practise u hv no limits, for knowledge as well as money. What do u say?

agreed...  practice is best..

well said, if you want good money at initial stage go for service, where you will get enriched with wealth , knowledge & expertise at other's cost .But in practice scope is very wide in initial stage you have to invest a lot for knowwledge, Infrastructure, client building and net working, etc etc. so on never ending. This investment will take some time to return, At end definitely you will get good return with peace of mind. ALL THE BEST.

Agree with Mr.Gangadhar

agree with u heena,I also met a person like that, and also when i see the diference in knowledge and respect commanded by practising and industry CAs its biiggg difference. I hv changed my mind frm industry to practise within a year of articleship.

agreed with you sir........ & thank you Member (Account Deleted), for this beautiful nd very gud post

Agreed with Mr. Gangadhar, if you want to make money in early stages then industry is good but your knowledge will get restricted. But if you go in practise, little hard in intial stages but after that whatever you will do that will be for your wen business, not for others. Ultimate feeling of CA remains in practise.

There is nothing better than your own firm because then it is just not about Audit or tax or accounts but it is more about being an entrepreneur, apart from the domain knowledge, you gain exposure to marketing, people management, networking – what not and you create a name for yourself, for your work.

Hi Friends..

There are lot of students who want to set up practice after clearing CA. But due to financial difficulties, age, to take care your family etc.. every one compelled to join industry/job. In my opinion if u have enough money at the beginning u can straightaway go for practice. Now the break even time is also reduced to 6 months to 1 year. Feel the satisfation, peace, and u will become more creative.

END OF THE DAY YOU FEEL URSELF, SOMETHING ACHIEVED IN UR LIFE.

I Agree with all of of that in Job, initially you have money and your knowledge is restricted to your job profile. For practice, it is certain that intially you need to struggle a little or more (depending on individual skills, contacts and attitude), but the satisfaction of doing your work and applying your knowledge, and moreover the vast sky of growth and exposure is the ultimate return in practice (of course money also).

Also one thing, I want to say here that, its not like that if you are in job, then you get stuck and you can't practice. Intial years in job also helps you in your personality development, way of presenting yourself, systematic approach towards work and upgrading your personal skils which is also important along with knowledge.

Moreover, ones attitude and intution towards life takes you to the way that suits your skills, knowledge and interest.

thanx for your gud post

we earn a lot of knowledge in practice and knowledge values a lot

Practice or entrepreneurship does not make must difference.why not later one
Practice or entrepreneurship does not make difference,so why not go for latter.

hey i want to add something more...

if you wish to do practise ..make sure that you have enough contacts so that u r busy n have enough work.

money doesnt matter but sitting ideally at age of 23-25 for 2-3 years sucks

if u r a son / daughter of   a CA / lawyer then practise is best for you

Job or Practice are not mutually exclusive. If some person opts for one in some point of time, he can definately shift to the other in future. Better approach is to start with a job in order to become financially independent & during that tenure build contacts which could help you when you swich over to practice.

I dont agree with the mindset of going into practice just to hear sirs or madam these words are just ceremonial and does not reflect ones actual standing. So, I urge to my fellow CCI frriends that dont fall into this trap. Also, the argument that in practice one can have knowledge of everything whereas in job it is more constrained. I dont buy it, It all depends on ones choice to have expert knowledge on one subject & not of other. You will find many practicing CAs who are good in either Taxation or Audit & have limited knowlege of other.

In the end, I just want to say that you should follow that path which satisfies to you most just going after money or for some ceremonial rewards will lead you nowhere.
