Quick Summary
This discussion clarifies the tax-free interest limits for postal savings accounts. It confirms that the Rs 3,500 annual tax exemption for postal savings interest is separate from and in addition to the Rs 10,000 deduction available under Section 80TTA for bank interest. Therefore, individuals can potentially benefit from a total of Rs 13,500 in tax-exempt interest income.

It is not new. As I understand, 3.5k is over and above the limit u/s 80TTA. Just ensure not to avail double benefit on the same income.
Thanks, but does it clarified anywhere?
Rs 3500 pa is exempted income u/s 10(15)(i). In addition you can claim deduction of Rs 10000 under 80TTA
It is quite clear in the law that one take total benefit of 13500.
Yes.. Thanks
