If income from tuition is on a part-time basis then you can file ITR-1, under ‘income from other sources’. If the assessee is teaching as a professional in a full time capacity, then you should file ITR-4, under ‘Income from business/profession’.

If the gross total income does not exceed the limit, then it is not necessary to file the return. But, if the gross total income exceeds the limit and after deductions under chapter VI-A, the total income is not taxable, then you will have to file your income tax return even if you are not having any tax liability.

If you file with digital signature, then ITR-V is not required to be sent. If you file without digital signature, then ITR-V is to be sent to CPC, Bangalore using Ordinary Post or Speed Post ONLY within 120 days from the date of e-Filing.
