Old course Costing was totally numerical and new course Costing is totally analytical. In old course, questions are more or less repeated ones with an exception in one or two questions where pure concepts are asked. Contrarily in the new course, case studies, case scenarios are the major emphasis of the CA Institute. Each question is one way or other linked with a case and very few calculations are required. My recommendation is to follow CA Institutes books with supplementary books of authors such as Parag Gupta because they are combinedly a best way to get the right score in the examination.
