Quick Summary
This discussion addresses the process for updating GST registration after the death of a proprietor. It clarifies that a new GSTIN application is generally required, with the old one cancelled and the proprietor's death noted as the reason. While a jurisdictional visit may not be necessary, the use of an affidavit versus a succession certificate for proof is also discussed.

Better to ask with more details. Then only can understand the query...

in case of death of legal heir, proprietor will change and need to apply for new GSTIN and get old one cancelled& mention death of proprietor in  reason column.

at the time of getting new registration mention old GSTIN number for the reference. no need to attend jurisdictional office.

Kindly refer Circular 96/15/2019 GST
