Your documentation for audit should be as per the Auditing Standard issued by ICAI. 

Each of the Auditing standard contains the requirement for documentation. Thus, you need to maintain your books as per documentation requirement prescribed in the Auditing Standard. 

Further, you need to comply with the Ethical requirements issued by ICAI from time to time.
