In IPCC Book, it has been mentioned that UNIX is a multi-user based OS whereas WiNDOWS and DOS are PC-based. In which reference this statement has been given?

Actually windows too have multi user server edition that means you can use windows server in LAN environment serving different client PC's as a file server, internet server, database server. For WEB server there are better staffs.Unix is more used in scientific lab servers. So all servers are muti user but all muti users must not be unix servers. Hope this is ok.

Hello Friends,

A derivative of Ubuntu, PC/OS has an XFCE desktop environment that has a layout similar to the now defunct Be operating system. However, this distribution isn't a reimplementation of BeOS, but aims to reach a similar level of simplicity. PC/OS has the Ubuntu restricted extras preinstalled, supporting many multimedia formats out of the box. The XFCE desktop's lower system footprint means that this distribution can work even on older hardware, but can also power newer workstations.

Hello Friends,

An operating system (OS) is a collection of software that manages computer hardware resources and provides common services for computer programs. The operating system is a vital component of the system software in a computer system. Application programs usually require an operating system to function. As computers have progressed and developed so have the operating systems. Below is a basic list of the different operating systems and a few examples of operating systems that fall into each of the categories. Many computer operating systems will fall into more than one of the below categories.
1. GUI
2. Multi-user
3. Multiprocessing
4. Multitasking
