Now that your son has turned 18, it's essential to update his PAN card from a minor to a major one.
This update is necessary because, as a minor, his PAN card didn't have his photo and signature.
¹ To update the PAN card, you'll need to provide some documents, including: -
*Identity Proof: Aadhaar card, passport, driving license, or any other government-issued ID.² -
Address Proof*: Utility bills, bank statements, or a passport. - *Birth Date Proof*: Birth certificate, passport, or matriculation certificate.
You can update the PAN card online through the NSDL or UTIITSL websites or offline by visiting a PAN service center.
The process involves filling out Form 49A, submitting the required documents, and paying a fee of ₹107. Once you've updated the PAN card, your son will receive a new card with his photo and signature, marking his transition to a major PAN cardholder.
