Pan cancellation of corporate assessee

Dear Sir,

XYZ Pvt. Ltd. is wound up in March, 2014.

My query is that Whether it is mandatory to cancel the PAN of above mentioned company.

If yes? then where to submit the required document for PAN cancellation.

Whether at Income Tax Dept. or NSDL?

Pls guide me .

First Sent an application to NSDL department,pune for surrendering the PAN.

Second intimation to income tax deptt about winding up of company.

yes you should surrender your pan. fill the pan correction form where you will find at the end of page an option to surrender pan. submit it to nsdl. and after you application is processed, your pan will be considered to ne surrendered. you do not need to physically submit the pan card given.

what about itr filing in case of winding up of private limited company?????

@ ca saurabh.. in case of winding up, itr is needed to be submitted in the year of wound up only. in this case, an application is made to AO regarding the winding up process and stating the income earned till date of wind up. the final accounts of the co. (submitted to AO with application) should be audited by a CA. later, when the assessment is complete then pan can be surrendered.
