While filling my friends return for Assessment year 2025-26 in form 2, I find 234 f penalty of 5000 is computed .
I am baffled since the tax return is in time I.e before 15 th September 2025.
So tax is shown as outstanding.
.has anyone faced this problem ?

No problem as such. Check schedule 'General'..... for date of filling .... Correct it...

This is what I was afraid of. Refer my posts on this worry.
The filing date has been extended to 15-Sept-2025. However the Filing Utilities must be still calculating late filing penalty as per last date of 31 July 2025.
And I had mentioned that I do not have the time, money, and energy for collecting back miscalculated amount. And therefore, completed calculating/paying Self Assessment and filing the return well before 31 July 2025.
I expect many would get into this 234f penalty situation now.

You are right. I also did the same thing in my case but now struggling for this problem with my friends return.
Dhiraj Sir 's solution working is not as I am doing through offline utility and I can't find the cell to correct the due date. May be I will try with online utility and see whether I can escape.
But in no case I will pay the penalty that we are not supposed to pay.
