PAN Application for a Company

I am filing an online Permanent Account Number (PAN) application for a newly formed private limited company through NSDL website.
I have submitted the online form and made payment via credit card. Now the acknowledgement has to be printed and sent to NSDL along with supporting documents (copy of Certificate of Incorporation).

The printed acknowledgement provides space for "Signature of the Applicant". GIven that the application is for a company, is a signature required? If yes, will one of the directors have to sign?
