Outstanding tax demand

TDS 576 views 4 replies

Sir,

I learnt from one of my friends that there is a provision to check Outstanding Tax demand in income tax site. Yesterday while checking the same i found that there is a demand of Rs.6190 for AY 2011-12. After this i checked my form 16 and 26as for AY2011-12. i found that Rs 37696 is deducted as tax in form 16 and only Rs.31503 is appearing as tax deducted in 26as. Outstanding tax demand is exactly the difference between two 37696-31503 = 6193.

The ITR for 2011-12 was filed offline by me. Kindly advise how to rectify the same.

With regards,

Binu.

Go contact the deductor and ask him to file revised TDS returns for the same. And I think as and when the revised returns are filed by the deductor, a rectification request can be made by you. (on logging in to your account) But I doubt if that rectification request can be made online since return was filed offline.

Rectification wont be available online.

Do 1 thing, get TDS return corrected by employer and sit back. You will be in the clear. No worries.

file the rectification u/s 154 on plain paper with proof of ITR and TDS certificate to the AO.

Yes, file rectification petition against the intimation under section 143(1) you have received from your local AO.
