What are the major areas to review  ?

The One Says:

A job well begun is half done  :) . The preliminary stages of any audit are therefore very important. The following aspects should be consider, in no particular order:

Last few year exception reports
MIS reports for last few years
Industry Standards
Problem areas identified in earlier audits
Performance standards
Operation standards
Major & Minor Operations
Inspection and Expediting reports
Internal Report
Self Assessment reports         ......... I think you would get a fair picture at the preliminary stage and for audit procedures also
For major areas it would depend on what are the process, scope of the audit, the standards and the performance of the company (also whether the operations audit is for compliance or for efficiency)

Hope it helps.
