OCTROI Charges

OCTROI is charge that are levied for taking one item/goods from one state to another state. Usually if you buy something online, there will be a clause which says "OCTROI charges if any will be paid by the consignee".

I heard that in Mumbai you still need to pay OCTROI

Some of the states in India that don't collect OCTROI are

Andhra Pradesh

Karnataka

Delhi

Tamil Nadu

West Bengal

Gujrat (abolished in 2008)

Punjab(abolished 2006)

I donno the complete list of states. But to know the state specific information you can visit that particular state's tax department website.
