Nri taxation

Hello,

I would like to ask a query that, we are offering(Indian based company) to NRI for 8-9 months to work in India. So, we need to deduct an Income Tax?. If "YES" please let me know what is the Income Tax slab rate for them and how can we calculate?.You may send an answer to chandrucg29 @ gmail.com

Thanks in advance.

Look forward to hearing the answer as soon as possible.

yes u need to deduct tds.....and the tds is deducted at average rate....for the purpose of claculation of tds on salary there is no difference between NRI and resident....so follow the slabs which u r following for residents.
however if payment of salary is to be made in foreign currency then the amount of tax deducted is to be calculated after converting the salary payable into Indian currency at the telegraphic transfer buying rate as adopted by State Bank of India on the date of deduction of tax(Rule 26) read with Section 192(6).

Thank you for the answer.

Also wanted to know that, the NRI has to be applied for PAN first in India?.

Please go thru DTAA agreement..
