I am Indian citizen currently residing in America. I have stayed in India for 70 days in FY 2019-20. I have been employed in America from February 2020 onwards. I am staying in America from 2018 August onwards for education purpose. Before this I am resident of India.
please advise me on my residential status and return filing obligation in India for fy 19-20

As per the income tax act you have resided in America during f.y.2019-20 more than 180 days. so for the f.y.2019-20 your non-resident.
but if have any sources of income in india during the said year the you have to file income tax return by showing status as non resident.
otherwise no need to assess your income which was earned in America.
