Notice under Section 148 followed by Section 154 Notice

Received a notice from Income tax department under Section 148 of Income tax act,1961. Again received under Section 154 of the income tax act, 1961. Are they two different assessments, or Section 154 is continuation of notice under Section 148. Please clarify.

Section 154 is rectification of income and section 148 is re-computation of income.

As under 148 while your reassessment of income there might be any mistake in the return for which they issue notice under section 154

Both are different. check notice they may be of different previous years.

Hi they are for the same assessment years. Can the Assessing officer compute the assessment under section154, when a section 148 notice is served. I always had a thought they are separate sections.
