Notice u/s 142: copy of computation of income statement

Hi friends

I have received a notice under section 142 that is attached.

Only 1 document is requested: Copy of Computation of Income statement for the Asst Year 2015-16.

Why would AO need this from me, since the exact same information is also on my return?

It also says to "Furnish in writing and verified in the prescribed manner." Does this mean i need to write it by hand? and do i need to get it notarized?

The prescribed manner, as stated in Income tax rule 14 is:

Form of verification under section 142.

14. The information which a person is required by the Assessing Officer to furnish under section 142 shall be verified in the following manner, namely :—

"I declare that to the best of my knowledge and belief, the information furnished in the statement/statements is correct and complete and other particulars shown therein are truly stated."

The copy of computation means, all income proofs and their disclosure in the computation and return.
