it is the duty of assessee to prove that he is RNOR when asked by IT Dept.. wat do yu mean by dis-adv
you cannot say whether it is advantagious or not but for furnishing the return of income it is necessary to know the residential status of individual

At the time of Furnishing the Return - you need to know the Res. status...& prove the dept..
boss its advantageous as u are not suppose to pay tax on income frm business connection in india
ur passport is used to determine ur residential status
