Udham Singh assassinated Michael O'Dwyer at Coxton Hall (UK) on March 18, 1940.Michael O'Dwyer had ordered the troops to open fire at Indian public in April 1919, who had gathered to hear speeches of some prominent persons at Jallianwala Bagh, Amritsar, in which over 1,000 indians were killed. Instead of fleeing, he gave his arrest and was hanged to death by British Govt. on July 31, 1940
