This discussion addresses the issue of filing an updated return (ITR-U) when the original Income Tax Return (ITR) for FY 20-21 was not e-verified or the ITR-V was not sent. Participants are exploring whether the return is considered invalid and if ITR-U can be filed as if the original return was never submitted. Some users are encountering technical glitches when attempting to file ITR-U, such as issues with previous acknowledgement numbers and tax liability calculations. Advice includes waiting for technical rectifications, filing grievances, or potentially using a risky workaround.
sir i had filed ITR 3 for F.Y. 2021-22 but was not able to e-verify it or post it to CPC. now that i sent it by post it shows that Return is deemed to be not filed. and while trying to file ITRU in option whether previous return filed if i select yes and enter details of previous acknowledgement portal shows invalid details and if i select no it shows the database records do not match as previous itr is uploaded. is there any solution to this problem?
