Nil return for partnership firm

Hi my partnership firm shut down in November 2019, I have filed my itr for FY 2019-2020. I have given application for surrender of my firm pan card in January 2021. I have also submitted my original pan to the department but have not heard back from them. Please let me know if I need to FILE NIL ITR FOR FY 2020-2021

Quick Summary
This discussion addresses whether a nil Income Tax Return (ITR) needs to be filed for a partnership firm that ceased operations in November 2019. Despite the firm's PAN card being surrendered in January 2021, questions arise about filing for FY 2020-2021. The consensus is that if the PAN was still active and there were no financial transactions during the year, a nil return with zero entries is permissible and advisable to avoid issues.

If PAN is still active, file ITR with financial statements till December 2020..

You should file nil return

Sir, there were absolutely no financial transactions during the year, is it possible to file return with everything zero, my ca tells me it will be a defective return

You can file nil return there will be no problem. i have seen 0 income returns.

Many thanks for your help
