I am going to start a private limited comapny with the main objective of equity investments. We will not accept deposits or borrow money, insatead will do operations with own funds only. Is it a must to do NBFC registration with RBI? How much the registration formalities cost and how long will it take?

more than the cost you should be able to bring in Rs.2 Crores as Paid up capital.
But you can start an investment company without registering with the RBI if it for small time investment purposes.

Our capital will be 2 crores. what i want to clear is whether we can form the company and do equity investments without RBI registartion as NBFC or not. Also how long the RBI restration takes, if it is a must?
