Name mistake in itrv

Dear All,

I have efiled my return for AY 13-14 three months back, but there is a mistake in my name.

example: my name Anil as per pan card but wrongly I mentioned Anil Kumar in ITR Form and I have sent the acknowledgement by ordinary post with self signed covering letter explaining it is clerical mistake, pls treated Anil Kumar as Anil Only and a copy sent to ITO ward also.

ITRV not received till date by CPC as status shows. Now what should I do. Should I send it again with Covering letter or without covering letter.

Please help....

Dear anil I suggest you file your revise return by making correction on the required fields. It is very simple process. After you file your revise return again a acknowledgement will be generated. Post it by speed post and keep with you the reciept of the same. I hope this will solve your problem.

thnx manoj i just wanted to know if i don't revise the return, will it processed or not as correct pan are there....

As mentioned by you, status of your original return shown is ITR V not received. If you had sent it to the correct address at Bangalore CPC, then no reason for this to happen. Until ITR V reaches CPC, return submission is not complete. So if they have not received your ITR V, chances are that your efiling will not be processed at all. Better way to correct your name and complete the process is to file a revised return and send the ITR V to CPC by speed post as suggested by Manoj. Just remember not to send any other document (not even covering letter) alongt with ITR V and do not send the ITR V to any other Income Tax office.
