I would advise u to invest by way of SIP s rather than a Lumpsum.
Some of the MF which has given a Good returns over a period of time are:

1) HDFC Top 200

2) Franklin India bluechip

3) UTI Equity fund (G)

4) Fidelity Equity fund Growth etc.
