I am a importer/ trader registered in WEST BENGAL.
If i import goods at Mumbai sea port and sales those goods from there to a buyer registered in Maharashtra.
Then do i need to take registration in Maharashtra also under GST ?

yes, you have to take registration at Maharashtra
and also in Kolkata if sale in west Bangal

Mandatory Registration under GST if already registered under existing act (Custom or Excise)
As an importer you will be under Reverse Charge and hence Mandatory REgistration under Section 24.

Thank you rohit.....the interpration of section 24 i understand is that i have to take registration as a casual taxable person for a parricular consingment which i wish to sell in maharashtra....please coreect me if i am wrong.

The answer to your situation is not simple.
If you take registration in Maharastra then which address in Maharshtra you will give in application?
Further place of supply in case of import of goods in location of importer.
Location of importer is not defined, if we take definition at par with loaction of service receiver then it will be place of your registration that is West Bengal State.
ideally as you are registered in West Bengal you can get goods after customs clearance with IGST in Bill of Entry, You can make sale to Buyer in Maharshtra and raise invoice with IGST.
