Mobile reimbursement

ITR 401 views 1 replies

My company allows rs. 2000 / month for mobile reimbursement (so total 24,000 for year) on showcasing bills. I shared the required bills with my employer and monthly salary accounted for tax exemption on this amount.

For AY17-18, I filled up my salary as per my form-16. This amount of 24,000 is not included as salary in form-16. I have received a notice from the IT department saying that there is mismatch between form 26AS and my ITR (which I filled based on form 16). The discrepancy is exact 24000.

Please tell me what should I do. Do I need to file a revised ITR and include it as other exempt allowance on my ITR?

Thank you for replying!

Yes sir. If the notice is u/s 143 you can file a rectfication u/s 154 or  you will have to revise the return u/s 139(5) declaring Mobile reimbursement as Exempted allowance in either case.
