I THINK. YOU CAN CLAIM UPTO 15000

Fixed medical allowance is always taxable.

When there is any reimbursement of medical expenses already u have incurred ,they are exempted upto Rs.15000/- per year

But if you provide the medical bills then we can get an exemption under Sec 17 (2)

S ankit ur rite,if u provide the bills,exempted upto Rs.15000/-.P.A

But my question is ... Is it mandatory to provide the bills to the employer ?

yes it is

MEDICAL ALLOWANCE IS TAXABLE

Yes,It is manadatory to provide the medical bills to employer to get deduction of medical allowance.

As per Act, Fixed medical allowence appears in pay slip is always taxable irrespective of wheather you have submitted bills or not and Wheather you have incurred any medical expenses or not

But  in Practice to the benifit of employees ,employers are accepting bills from employees and they are showing it as an exemption Upto Rs.15000/- p.a just like medical reimbursement. It is just a practice not a rule.
