May 2011 Final new course : best book for IDT

Final 2280 views 13 replies

Hi,

I know people have posted this query before but i am still confused and hence this post. i plan to sit for final in may 2011. i'm searching for one good book on IDT. i came across suggestions on the foum to use bangar. now , is this vandana bangar or Y. bangar? can someone clarify that please.... also, when u recommend books, please let me know whether they are suitable for new course or not. coz i suppose these authors are highly recommended for the old course but not sure if they would suit the change in syllabus and pattern of new course. also when u suggest a textbook for IDT, let me know if i ought to also buy a book for solving questions ,like a workbook or something. i know datey has a workbook but i think it was for old course. i need one for new course.

i'm yet to buy a book but i'm keen on starting studies soon. i've been postponing giving my ca final exam for a very very long time now but i really wanna get done with at least one group in may. so i'll probably be very active on the forum henceforth coz i need a lot of help, from those who are currently undergoing the course and those who have already cleared. i would appreciate any sort of help here....

looking forward to a reply :)

hi Revati,

are u referring to Paduka for ur studies? do u not find it tedious? are u referring to any other book as well?

hey look at bangar......................

Actually our classes gave us Bharat Publications book for IDT By Mohammed Rafi sir, it was because he is teaching us IDT, But i had bought paduka well in advance..so i m referring 2 books..Bharat Pub for understanding and paduka for 2nd reading..I personally didnt find bangar very good..doesnt suit my reading pattern,..but its ur choice..But remember to stick to ur decision once u buy the book..changing the books after refering them for a long period is not advisable..i m accustomed to paduka, hence i refer it for most of the subjects..

yogesh bangar and vandana bangar have co written the book. There is only one book.

i also had the same confusion, i also asked guys on this forum, i also got 50 reply, half saying bangar(yogesh vandana both are co-authors of same book), othe half advising datey, few were in favour of paduka...

so still confused, first i bought bangar did Exise,ST from it, then not fully satisfied i bought datey( workbook is not published now), completed custom from it, liked this book, so did ST (again) and VAT from it.and exise from bangar for second revision(Exise in datey is very gigantic, so i preferred excise from bangar, but otherwise datey is easy to understand in comparison to bangar as mr bangar has copied bare act in most of the sections and it healso lacks in practical knowledge, but one plus point of bangar is that case laws are very neatly presented explaining whole case, date explains case laws in few 1 or 2 lines only) Then I revised from these books, my attempt is due in nov10 so i went to buy latest edition of both books and I saw this book of Snowwhite publication by T.Vaitheesvaran. I dont know why i bought this book but it proved to be a very well written book, everything is nicely assembled in right place and explained well in lucid language, so i agin completed Exise, ST from this book, Exise part was excellent but in ST i felt Bangar is equally good.

CONFUSED???:)

my final verdict after reading from 3 books and completing syllabus for 3 times (this is what i will be doing myself while revising for last and final time)

Exise- K.Vaitheeswaran(i dont remember if its K or T.vaithe... nor i have energy to go to book shelf and pick that buk)

Custom-Datey

ST- Both K. vaithe and datey are equally good

Vat being a small topic and presented equally well in all books, do it from any one.

also case laws in vaitheeswaran are explained in appropriate length, neither they are too lenthy(bangar), nor too brief(datey)

All these advices are applicable provided you are not attending coaching, otherwise follow your so called professor's book. but frankly i believe coaching is such a waste of time, I have completed all subjects myself, mind you i am not at all studious or intelligent, just another avg ca student. Except DT from Mr Vinod Gupta- Syllabus is humongous and very practical and sections are interlinked a lot, thats why ony coaching i advice(if u reside in delhi area)

didnt even considered paduka for buying bcoz, following advise from some of my friends i bought paduka for costing and SFM, but what horrible books they were, everything explained in 2 lines and everything converted into formulas.

not advisable for self study, there are lots and lots of ques given for practice but time is limited for studies.......

Hi friends, N.S. Govindan is the best book for 1st time study of IDT

Regards, Mukesh
