I guess what you are asking for is a mystery among the CA students for decades..

yes, it is a big mystery among all the students. I got only 45 in taxation when i was expecting atleast 55-60, although i have passed my group but still there is a question in my mind that what happened while checking the paper, so you never know whats going to be checked and how its going to be checked.

Marking of paper also depends on your luck.... Our papers are not been checked by experts or professors. Even my friends who qualified recently are correcting papers. I wonder are they really capable of correcting papers.....i mean paper correction requires specialised expert level knowledge but its not so in CA.... In my opinion the paper correction system of ICAI is very unprofessional and no wonder many deserving candidates are failing and at the same time undeserving candidates are getting through. So you never know who is going to correct your papers. So CA Results depends on hard work + hard luck. I am sorry if i have offended someone but thats what is the bitter fact.
