Quick Summary
This discussion explores options for managing Long Term Capital Gains (LTCG) tax when selling a residential plot. The original poster inquired about investing the entire capital gain amount into a NIFTY 50 Index Fund to avoid paying LTCG tax, as an alternative to purchasing another property. Responses clarified that direct investment in index funds doesn't typically exempt LTCG, suggesting options like depositing funds in a Capital Gains Deposit Account (CGAS) or utilising exemptions like Section 54EC and 54F for property-related investments.

No u cant sir.....u can deposit in capital gain dep a/c vch u can utilise later for prescribed purposes only
THERE ARE TWO WAYS .
1. EITHER DEPOSIT IT IN CGAS
2. ENTIRE AMOUNT 54EC AND 54F
Deposit in Capital Gains Deposit scheme

or pay tax
Extension of existing house property .
exemption 54 F
