Leave encashment
I AM GOVERMENT EMPLOYEE AND HAVE RECEIVED SUM OF 18023 AS LEAVE ENCAHMENT( DURING SERVICE) IN APRIL16. CAN I CLAIM RELIEF OF THIS SUM U/S 89

No. It is not possible. 89 rebate is for arrears of salary. Exemption u/s doesn't apply because you are in service .
