do it like this
open visual basic editor " Tools ---> Macro -----> Visual basic editor"
now what ever comes to your mind related to function or else type it in help window read it and exand upto u can understand there will be lots of examples,
another very good way is copy examples code in modules and run the macro u will get more clarity and understanding of coding as well as working of macro & excel

Do you have the notes to learn Macros.. if could you send any basic macros like adding numbers, subtact, Mulitiplication and division and other test related macors.
VBA help (i.e. F1 key) itself is the note book & very good collection of notes on macro

Macro is like a ghost in Excel, which automatically does all the manual work which you are supposed to do....
Macro is a very AMAZING TOOL .....for eg:- If a process takes you 1 hr or more in excel, you can automate it with help of macros. Macros will reduce to processing time from 1hr. to seconds (or milliseconds)....so perfect it is....
Almost everything what you do manually in excel can be done in macro...
Macro is not only limited to excel, it is also applicable to word, ppt and other office applications. Even your desktop can be operated with Macro. Desktop macros will record Keyboard or Mouse movements and repeat the same. For eg:- i used to open my lotus notes in office by just pressing a shortcut key which will trigger a desktop macro. That macro will go to start, programs, lotus notes, type my password and open my inbox and refresh it....(all within seconds)....
Excel Macros work only when excel is open. Hence to open excel and make the macro run, we had to use Desktop macro.
Simply MACRO is amazing feeling....it is wonderful to see excel working automatically...as you do........you can experience it by using it......start learning from today....
