I am preparing for CA final group 1 ( old ) in May 2009. Kindly give some advice how to proceed ? which books to read , which areas to focus etc etc.

Think subject wise dear 1st Accounts , 2nd MAFA, then law & Audit. For Accounts U may go with PARVEEN SHARMA OR U MAY GO EVEN SELF STUDY with notes of Parveen Sharma Sir.
Then U should go for MAFA Coaching ( It is very necessary) CA. Ravinder Saini is best teacher for MAFA u may contact at sainiclasses.com
Then u may go self study for law and audit
