Just get in touch with your feelings !!!

About a hundred years ago, a man looked at the morning newspaper and to his surpriseblush and horror, read his name in the obituary column. The news papers had reported the death of the wrong person by mistake. His first response was shock.surprise Am I here or there? When he regained his composure, his second thought was to find out what people had said about him.

The obituary read, "Dynamite King Dies." And also "He was the merchant of death."

This man was the inventor of dynamite and when he read the words "merchant of death," he asked himself a question, "Is this how I am going to be remembered?" He got in touch with his feelingsenlightened and decided that this was not the way he wanted to be remembered. From that day on, he started working toward peace.

His name was Alfred Nobel and he is remembered today by the great Nobel Prize.

Just as Alfred Nobel got in touch with his feelings and redefined his values, we should step back and do the same.

What is your legacy?

How would you like to be remembered?

Will you be spoken well of?

Will you be remembered with love and respect?

Will you be missed?

Just think about it...

Regards!!

Introspection is really missing form our lives in the present times...  crying

Again a very good, crispy, and out of the box share by you Dear Ankur. smiley

Sometimes the words of others will also help you to redefine yourselves just as media comments forced Alfred Nobel to change himself and the change which will be remembered by the world forever......

As it has been rightly said that

Length of life doesn't matter. What matters is the Depth of life........

Thanks for sharing another beautiful post............smiley

In 1888 Alfred's brother Ludvig died while visiting Cannes and a French newspaper erroneously published Alfred's obituary. It condemned him for his invention of dynamite and is said to have brought about his decision to leave a better legacy after his death. The obituary stated Le marchand de la mort est mort ("The merchant of death is dead") and went on to say, "Dr. Alfred Nobel, who became rich by finding ways to kill more people faster than ever before, died yesterday." Alfred was disappointed with what he read and concerned with how he would be remembered. On 27 November 1895, at the Swedish-Norwegian Club in Paris, Nobel signed his last will and testament and set aside the bulk of his estate to establish the Nobel Prizes, to be awarded annually without distinction of nationality. He died of a stroke on 10 December 1896 at Sanremo, Italy. After taxes and bequests to individuals, Nobel's will gave 31,225,000 Swedish kronor (equivalent to about 1.8 billion kronor or 250 million US dollars in 2008) to fund the prizes.

The first three of these prizes are awarded for eminence in physical science, in chemistry and in medical science or physiology; the fourth is for literary work "in an ideal direction" and the fifth prize is to be given to the person or society that renders the greatest service to the cause of international fraternity, in the suppression or reduction of standing armies, or in the establishment or furtherance of peace congresses.

I don't think that hw people tommorrow will think about me really does matter.

2mmrw never matters..........From my view my todays behaviour really matters because it makes my tommorrow.............. its my view.

I would like to thank you all for sharing your opinion.smiley

Thanks Neha for detailed info.smiley

One mistake of Newspaper, changed the nobel man....., means, mistakes also happen for good.., only the great people learn from past and work better for tomorrow, I was not aware of this, Thankyou Ankur sir, for letting us know abt it, indeed its a message required for us, to think and act.. and to try to leave a good mark, and Thanks Nehaji, for sharing more details ...

Attitude is what differentiates a great persona from a mediocre. If Alfred Nobel would not have taken the incident seriously thinking that it doesn't really matter as to how he would be remembered, then he would not have been  transformed into such a great personality. It does matter as to how people percieve us as we are a part and parcel of the society and we need the help of people around us some way or the other.Hence its always important to have an good and impactful impression on the people around us and also one must try as much to contribute for the betterment of the society.

Ankur Bhai, I had narrated this story when I delivered a speech in the school assembly, years back !!!!!  laugh

Yes, its an influential story. An incident that changed Alfred Nobel's life the other way round.

Thank You for sharing it and bringing back my school days into my mind......smiley

Yes, it is quite true. Desire to be perceived well by society does help us to remain on the right path. This desire is ingrained in all of us. Those in whom, this desire is dormant, tend to stray on the wrong path. Laaj dharma ki patni hai. Jo vyakti nirlajja ho to samjo ki usme dharma nahi tikega...
