Juggling between job and cfa

Hey CCAites.

I have appeared for CA Final in the, just finished, May 2013 Exams. I am confident of passing them in the first attempt.

I have to plans to pursue further education in the CFA course, which I intend to appear for in Deember for L1.

However, I am confused between the two paths, as to which one should I choose.

Should I go for a job and study CFA along with?
Or Should i wait to clear L1 and L2 and then join for a job

As I am from Surat, and though have worked in a reputed-midsize firm here, I do not have a very colourful resume. Therefore, in these recessionary times, I am doubtful of getting a good job?

I am perfectly willing to shift to any corner of the country for a decent job however I do not want to sacrifice the CFA for short term goals.
So the questions boils down to, how good is the job scene for freshers (first attempt clearers)?

Should I wait and clear L2 and then find a job?

Hi Rahul,

Since you have just appeared for CA Final exams for the first time, I am assuming you have your articleship remaining for about an year approximately. Keeping that in mind, a full time job is anyway not an option; and a paid article is not paid enough to put down any other alternative.

You pretty much have enough amount of time to prepare well for CFA ( I myself appeared for L1 last december and I can tell you, after qualifying CA, once you are in full time job, there's is hardly any time for preparations). So I would suggest you take up CFA and concerntrate on creating a fine resume first.

About the current scenarios in job market, without question, Yes there is a lot of fight. But with first-attempt-cleared CA degree and L2 in your kitty, I am 101% sure that you will land at a decent place; besides you sound to be confident and presentable and that's what is needed as much as your degree.

Hey Sheli,

Thanks for taking time out to reply.

I fear I missed pointing out the detail that since I'm from the IPCC stream, my articleship ends in the first week of September. And therefore, I'd be very much eligible to join a normal Job post results and Campus Interviews sessions.

In light of the said fact, how would you advice me on taking up the job?
