The offline utility provided by the Income Tax Department is extremely inefficient. It takes an unreasonably long time to load. I am attempting to fill in details under ITR-2 related to Short-Term Capital Gains (STCG), but the entire section is disabled. This is happening even though I have selected the option for income taxed at special rates.
Is there any alternative software I can use for filing? Perhaps an open-source option available on GitHub?

Clearing the Cache and temporary files associated with the utility might help resolve loading issues.
While there are commercial software options available, such as those provided by private companies like ClearTax, Tax2win , or Quicko, the availability of open-source alternative on GitHub is less common due to the complexity and specificity of tax laws and regulations.

Use the OffLine Utility actually OFFLINE by keeping Internet Connection Off till everything is done and you want to upload the json.
Otherwise the Offline Utility keeps on checking with I-T Server every time your are entering some data. And everything becomes snails pace.
The utility applications are faulty.
