ITR Acknowledgment Download

I filed the return yesterday with aadhar verification but no acknowledgement. Maybe some issue with the site

If you received an acknowledgement of filing the ITR, either by SMS or by email from the Dept., you need not worry. If you did not receive any acknowledgement, and also are unable to find your saved ITR on the portal after logging in, as it happened to me, you can try the following:

1. Log in to your account. Click on efile..>incometax return..>select AY..>online filing..>start new filing.

2. Start filling the General Schedule. At one stage on this Schedule, you would get a pop-up message saying that your Return has been filed and you can revise it. This pop-up disappears after a few seconds. This confirms that the Dept. has received your ITR. Now stop filling in the ITR any further and log out. Do not file a revised return.

3. After a few days, you would get the usual confirmation on the portal to the effect that your ITR has been received and e verified successfully. You would also get access to the acknowledgement and filed ITR.

4. This procedure is based on my experience about two weeks ago. I got the confirmation on the portal as also could access the filed ITR/acknowledgement on the portal after 3 days. Another person who had a similar experience also followed the same procedure and got the problem solved in the same way like me. It seems to be a technical issue.

This may or may not work for all but is worth a try. Please note not to file a revised return. However, it would be worth filing a Grievance.

No Acknowledgment has got nothing to do with processing. It is just receipt of what you submitted and verified. It should be downloaded as a proof of submission of IT return to dept.

Kindly check if the pop up on your browser is blocked 

You see the tab on the upper rhs. Select options allow all pop-ups on income tax site. 

Thanks for the detailed step by step process advise. I tried, but it did not work, did not get any pop up. Not sure what to do now as no ack received.
