ITR 3: BFLA schedule not correct

Hi,

I can see brought forward business loss set of 23k in Column 2, however there was loss available for set off from the previous year. When I edit to make it to 0 I am getting this error "Where maximum losses is not set off against the income available for set off, carry forward of such losses may not allowed".

Please advise how to fix

This is more of a utility/portal issue and not a tax computation one, assuming that you have your numbers right.

You can try the following:

Ensure that the Schedule BFLA values are the same as the corresponding values in the income schedules (Business, Capital Gains, House Property etc.).
If there are any brought forward losses, ensure that Schedule CFL has been completed properly and that the set-off is transferring to BFLA as setup.
Use "Recompute/Compute Set-off", save the return and then validate once again.
If you are going online to use the utility, it's worth downloading a new pre-filled JSON or using the latest offline utility, as various users have noted this filing season that there are similar BFLA validation glitches.

If all the numbers add up and the error rate still occurs, it is most likely a portal validation bug. If so, please wait for the next Utility update or file a grievance on the Income Tax e-filing website with screenshots of the Validation message.

If you have the exact error message from BFLA or a screen shot, it may be easier for people here to help identify if it's a real BFLA mismatch or a portal problem.
