IT Return-Out dated cheque

Hi,

I have got an out dated cheque for the IT return for FY 07-08 .I shifted my house and because of this the cheque reached my after a long time.What can I do now? Will I get a new cheque issued to my new address .Can I request for e-transfer of this amount to my Bank account directly otherwise.

Please somebody advise me how to proceed on this.

Request them to issue a new cheque by writing a letter and they will do it. It would take time but u will get your money.

Along with your letter please surrender the Refund Voucher. It will help you to get your refund faster.

Thanks Nikhil and Sathikonda for the responses , Sorry but no go other than asking to whom will I request for a new cheque.. Its issued from SBI mumbai...to whom I will address my request and voucher ?

You have to address your Assessing Officer only. You have surrender the stale cheque to the Assessing Officer.

You can address to Assessing Officer, Income Tax department where you have filed your Income Tax Return by surrendering the staled cheque with a letter.
