Please guide me for the preparation of ISCA. I can't mug up theory.

How to prepare it to get gud marks?

Like chapters which carries high Weightage or some other tips.

Did you try the videos of Dinesh Madan? They are good for building the fundas.

I am having dvds of dinesh madan.. Total wastage of time, these are useless. You may check yourself.

ISCA is the bad torture on CA students, ISCA is in final stage where we have lost our patient and rutting techniques. Understading is of no use. I know all concepts of isca but when attempt it in exam, dont remember any point except confidentiality, integrity, availability and control.

Its high time icai do something to it.

I find his videos useful. It's not only me most of my friends too find his classes useful.

Dinesh Madan's book is good...!! and honestly telling i hv found this subject interesting...!! u can refer to dvd classes if u r not comfortable in reading theory ...!!

ISCA IS DIFFICULT TO MUG UP BUT U NEED TO DO IT AS THERE IS NO OTHER ALTERNATIVE TO CLEAR !!!!!!!!!!

Hey Guys...

I beg to differ from a lot of u !! ISCA is just like any other subject... At times we think that Direct Tax, Indirect Tax etc are practical subjects and ISCA is all mugging... Let me clear that doubt...

1) There's mugging in practical subjects also. Please let me know, how may people have practical exposure to the things they study in DT? Do people always visit Income Tax to understand section 143 (3)? Or they actually visit the Service Tax Commissioner to understand Appellate proceedings? They have to mug it up only... Only that we spend more time.. which makes it look practical...

2) As for ISCA, the concepts used here especially ERP, Risk Assessment are used a lot in professional lives... Trust me, I have been in Grant Thornton, Ernst & Young etc.. and I have used all these concepts.

3) And finally... how many people out of 100 CAs who qualify end up making careers in DT? Not even 5.. And IDT? Not even 2... Maybe 15-20 will use these as "part" of their profile... but only limited use.... On the contrary, a larger number will use concepts used in ISCA...

Please be advised that I being a practising CA like and use DT, IDT as much, and my comment is only intended to clear the dobut that ISCA is just a mugging up subject !!

Dinesh Madan book is very good. Just planning is necessary..........like take first 3 chapters after completing other 7 chapters. Chapter 4,5,6 are having limited topics and will take less time as compared to first 3 chapters. And also summary at last of each chapter is also very helpful. But for isca atleast 2-3 times reading before exams is necessary.
