I am in business of Renting Wedding Dress. We provide Sherwani for Dulha + Chaniya Cholis for Women on rental basis for marriage and other holly ocassions. I would like to know that wherther i have to pay VAT or I have to PAy service tax.

I would like to know that do i have to charge customer both VAT + service tax.

i have just started business

My business is in Gujrat.

Please help me

Renting of wedding dresses is a kind of service, hence service tax shall be leviable.

VAT is not applicable..

VAT is applicable on sale of goods, whereas service tax is payable on service. Since renting of clothing is a service and not sale service tax is applicable
