Is single PF registration for 2 group company allowed

We have different PF registration for our different group companies. Recently I have come across a position that we can have a single PF registration number for more than 1 company.

For example we can have a single PF registration for holding company and its 2 subsidiary Company (Group company). In this system we can deduct PF of covered employees of all 3 companies and deposit the same with PF department under single registration number.

Is this single PF registration for more than one Group Company is valid?

If yes please share relevant extract of PF Act/ PF rules/ PF Notification/ PF Circular which allows said single PF registration.

Dear Ankur,

It is very strange that single PF Registration Number is allowed to more than one company, which I am hearing for the first time. Since each company is a seperate legal entity, hence, in my personal opinion, the above single PF Registration for more than one company seems to be illogical. Let's wait for other's opinion.

Hi Ankur,

this is correct that same Profident fund number may be used for compliance of group companies under same management. In fact this porovision is envoked by the PF department to cover a group of company having companies with less than 20 employees individually but collectively the number of employee crosses 20.

i had an occassion to deal with this type of situation while covering a hotel group where in all the hotels were owned by private limited company However the promoter group was same. and department wanted to cover all the hotels in the same code.

i ll check the file and ll share the provisions later.
