What is the status of PT Test? Is it scrapped after introduction of New Scheme or is it still there? I have given my PT test - 1 in 2nd Year of Articleship, i am supposed to give PT test - 2 in my 3rd year, which is right now, but when i checked the PT test portal - only details of last PT Test is there. (Which was conducted a year ago). Can anybody give me clarification on this? I searched everywhere but couldn't find an answer to the same.

As of today, February 1, 2024, the ICAI (Institute of Chartered Accountants of India) discontinued issuing virtual certificates for the Practical Training (PT) Test in November 2021. This means the PT test as a mandatory assessment for CA students is no longer held.

Here's some additional information to clarify:

  • Previously, students took the PT test after completing their first and second year of practical training.
  • The test assessed their knowledge and skills gained during the training period.
  • However, the ICAI decided to remove the PT test from the CA course requirements.
  • Instead, they now focus on continuous evaluation throughout the training period.

Therefore, if you're currently pursuing the CA course, you don't need to worry about taking the PT test.
