Is it possible for big 4 article trainees to practice as cas

Few days back, I have put a question in the forum as to whether the Article Trainees will be delegated to only one area in big 4 throughout their articleship period. Link: /forum/big-4-articleship-very-very-urgent-plz-help-182183.asp

From the answers given by various members of CCI, I have come to the conclusion that the articles indeed will be delegated to only one area in big 4 throughout their articleship period. So my question is whether it is possible for the Big 4 Article Trainees to practice as Chartered Accountants after becoming members of ICAI.

Because if they are delegated to only one area, say "tax audit", how can they deal with assignents such as internal audits, statutory audits, Income Tax, Indirect Taxes, Corporate Law, etc?

Hey buddy !!!!!

If after completion of his article or after clearing his finals , a person want go for a for job den his can opt for a big4 for his articleship but if he wants to practise a C.A he should prefer a med-size Ca firm where he can get exposure in each field of tax as wellas audit.... And clearing his finals he should prefer a CA firm about 2-3 years to get a wider exposure . So, dat he can start out his own practise.

The brand name says it all. That counts. I did my articles in a traditional dirm which has been in existence for over 70 years. There i get diverse exposure. I have interacted with many studens in Deloitte, PWC etc. They do get very good exposure as well. But there is a chain of command which is strictly adhered to which may limit your interactions with the partners of the firms. The culture and the reporting is something which will be great there. Definitely not something you will regret. Even if u r restricted to Tax department u will not do it without a basic understanding of the financials. You have ur exams too. And moreover specialisation is the order of the day so that helps. Your decision but big 4 definitely counts in a way as the brand will come along with you a long way. Go to Statutory audit department. That way u actually will see everything. In terms of exposure that should be ultimate
