Is it necessary to have executive director in a Company

Law directly not said about in this concern but, it is the interpretation of law that a company must have executive director because they work for the company as company can't work for itself as company is an artificial person. As per Sec 167 of companies act Directors are to be vacated if they willingly not present in Board meeting till 1 Year, So it is the interpretation of law that the Company must have Executive Director.......
