Hi frndz i am Chartered accountant and also qualified for CS-Executive programme recently and now eligible to enroll myself for CS-executive programme. Someone told me that CA is eligible for exemption from student induction programme(SIP) on the basis of CA-final passed marksheet itself. if anyone knows about it please let me know. i wud be very thankful guyz......

Yes you can clain exemption on the basis of your CS qualification.

Exemption from Student Induction Programme [SIP]
 

The Council of the Institute has approved the eligibility criteria for grant of exemption from undergoing Student Induction Programme (SIP). As per the latest notification from ICSI the following candidates are exempted from undergoing SIP:

 

  1. Exemption on the basis of Work Experience

 

Candidates having one year of working experience as assistant or any other post equivalent thereto  by whatever name called or any other higher grade thereto in the field of Finance, Secretarial, Human Resource, Marketing, General Administration, Teaching, Research etc. in any body corporate, government body, statutory or autonomous body, public undertaking, financial institution, banks, consultancy firms, Law firms  or any other  organization/institution which in the opinion of the Council provides scope for adequate exposure for exemption from Students Induction Programme  (SIP),  or

 

  1. Exemption on the basis of Professional Qualification

 

Candidates possessing professional qualification e.g CA, CWA, LL.B, BE/B.Tech/B.Arch, MBBS, Post Graduate Degree/Diploma in Businesses Administration/Management, MCA or any other qualification as approved by the Council from time to time.

 

  1. Students enrolled on or after 1st September 2009 yet not undergone the SIP

 

The students who were enrolled on or after 1st September 2009 and yet not undergone the SIP may also apply for the exemption.

 

TIME LINE FOR SENDING EXEMPTION REQUEST

 

Students seeking exemption may apply within six months from the date of registration in the Executive Programme.

 

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR CLAIMING EXEMPTION:

 

As per my conversation with ICSI office, following documents are required to get exemption from SIP:

 

  1. Duly filled SIP Exemption Form

 

Your application to get exemption from SIP should be accompanied with a duly filled SIP exemption form.

EXEMPTION FROM CS STUDENT INDUCTION PROGRAMME (SIP)

 

  1. Work Experience Certificate

 

As one of the criteria for exemption is one year of working experience as assistant or any other post equivalent thereto in the field of Finance, Secretarial, HR, Marketing, General Administration, Teaching, Research etc. in any body corporate, government body, statutory or autonomous body, public undertaking, financial institution, banks, consultancy firms, Law firms  or any other  organization/institution which in the opinion of the Council provides scope for adequate exposure for exemption from SIP you have to attach original copy of your duly signed one year Experience Certificate issued by the employer covering the following details:

 

  1. Name of the company
  2. Period of employment
  3. Designation
  4. Nature of Job
  5. Copy of degree or diploma on the basis of which you got this job

 

  1. Self Attested Copy of Degree or Mark Sheet

 

Another criterion for exemption is possessing professional qualification like CA, CWA, LL.B, BE/B.Tech/B.Arch, MBBS, Post Graduate Degree/Diploma in Businesses Administration/Management, MCA or any other qualification as approved by the Council from time to time by the applicant. To get exemption on the basis of Professional qualification you have to attach self attested copy of Degree or Mark sheet.

Attention Students!

 

 

CS-NEW TRAINING STRUCTURE

 

The Council of the Institute has approved new training structure for the students of the Company Secretaries course enrolled on or after 1st September, 2009.

                 

The New Training Structure includes conducting 7 days Student Induction Programme (SIP), 8 days Executive Development Programme (EDP), 25 hours’ compulsory attendance of Professional Development Programmes (PDP), Management Skills Orientation Programme and other requirements during training period while maintaining the existing duration of training, as under:

 

I.       Duration of training:

 

The existing period of training of 15 Months will be continued and students are free to undergo training wholly or partly with a Company Secretary in Practice or a Company registered for imparting training. 

 

Further, the existing 15 days training in a specialized agency such as the Office of the Registrar of Companies, stock exchange, financial or banking institution or management consultancy firm for another fifteen days, after passing Professional Programme (Final) exams is continued.

 

II.     Training Programmes:

 

The three programmes at different stages of the course would be conducted as under:

 

a).      Student Induction Programme (SIP) - Duration - 7 days, to be completed by the students within 6 months of registration to the Executive Programme (Intermediate Exams ) covering the following areas:-

 

  1. English Speaking Skills.
  2. Personality Development and Life Skills – Basic                   Concepts.
  3. Introduction to Course Contents, Electives and                  Opportunities both in practice and employment.
  4. Communication Skills, Writing ability-drafting                   etc.
  5. Usefulness of Reading Newspaper
  6. SWOT Analysis
  7. Computer Literacy (Basics)
  8. Know your Institute

 

b).      Executive Development Programme (EDP) - Duration 8 days, after passing the Executive Programme (Intermediate Exams) covering the following areas:-

 

1.      Personality Development - and Life Skills – Advanced Concepts (Interpersonal Skills, Decision Making Skills, Team Spirit, Negotiating Skills)

2.       Computer Literacy and Training (Advance)

3.       General awareness of Indian/Global economy, business conditions, Regulatory Insight, Capital Markets, and opportunities 

4.       Organisation Structure, Role of ROC/CLB/SEBI/SAT /Stock Exchanges/RBI/CCI/ TRAI/NCLT/NCLAT

5.       Drafting of Minutes, Notices, Resolutions, Advance business tools such as internet browsing, video conferencing etc.

6.       Etiquettes, Inter personal skills, Communication skills, Office culture;

7.       Significance of training and Code of conduct applicable during training period

8.       Interview Techniques & How to face interviews.

 

c).      Management Skills Orientation Programme (MSOP) – Duration 15 days after passing Professional Programme (Final Exams) covering:-

  2. Business strategy, Corporate restructuring through Mergers & Amalgamations, Take Over, Valuation, Competition Law, Consumer Protection.     
  3. Cross border transactions, global business scenario.
  4. Major tax laws, Double Taxation Treaty Agreements, Service Tax. 
  5. Corporate Governance, Business Ethics, Sustainability.
  6. Meetings, Secretarial Standards, Important provisions of Company Law.
  7. Capital Market related topics, Regulatory insight, Exchange related issues.
  8. Projects covering diverse areas including corporate laws.
  9. Intellectual Property Rights
  10. Arbitration, Conciliation, Alternate Dispute Redressal    Mechanism
  11. Corporate Compliance Management
  12. Areas of Practice –Existing & Emerging
  13. Understanding  Financial Statements
  14. Art of Advocacy, Court craft, Pleadings
  15. Board Room behaviour, Drafting of Chairmen’s Speech, Directors’ Report

As far as practicable, the mechanism for MSOP would be through Case Studies, Story Telling, Group Discussions, Role Playing, simulation exercises and the like so as to provide a real-life practical exposure.

III.     Implementation Schedule:

 

Under the new training structure 7 days Student Induction Programme (SIP) & 8 days Executive Development Programme (EDP) would be implemented by Regional Councils & Chapters as under:

 

  1. Regional Councils                 1st September, 2009
  2. A-1/ A grade Chapters          1st January, 2010
  3. B grade Chapters                  1st April, 2010

 

 

IV.     Fee structure:

 

  1. Student Induction Programme (SIP)                         Rs. 1000/-
  2. Executive Development Programme (EDP)                Rs. 1000/-

 

 

 

 

 

 

V.      Applicability:

 

The new revised training structure will be applicable to the students registered on or after 1st September, 2009.

 

VI      Attendance in 25 hours Professional Development Programme (PDP):

 

The students will be required to complete 25 hours of Professional Development Programme (PDP). The Regional Councils & Chapters would allow the students to attend such programmes at concessional rates.

15 month Training

 

Yes, Exemption from 15 months training can only be claimed on the basis working experience after passing the Final/Professional Programme Examination provided he/she fulfils the requirement of the Company Secretaries Regulations, 1982, as amended.

 

1 The candidates who have completed the Final/ Professional Programme Examination and possess three years working experience as an executive or four years as an assistant in a company having the paid up share capital of Rs.25 lacs or more. To assess the eligibility for exemption from undergoing 12 months Management Training and partial exemption from undergoing Practical Training on case to case basis.

 

2 The candidates who have completed the Final / Professional Programme Examination and possess two years working experience as an executive or three years as an assistant with a Company Secretary in Practice. To assess the eligibility for exemption from undergoing 12 months Management Training. From undergoing 12 months Management Training and partial exemption from undergoing Practical Training on case to case bases.

 

3 In orders to avail total exemption under Regulation 48 & 51 a candidate should posses one year experience as Assistant Secretary or any post higher thereto in the Secretarial Department in a company or body corporate having a paid up share capital and reserves of not less than Rs.25 lacs or any organization having gross fixed assets of not less than Rs.50 lacs including any public Sector Undertaking, Autonomous body, Financial Institution or Bank, which in the opinion of the Council, provides scope for acquiring sufficient professional experience. Please note that 15 days Secretarial Modular Training Programme is compulsory.

 

Following are the documents required to be submitted in order to claim exemption from undergoing training: -

a. Application Form for Management /Apprenticeship/ Practical Training/ Exemption from undergoing Training. (ST-10)

b. Experience Certificate (s) indicating exact designation, duration of service, salary drawn, job contents in brief duly signed by the appropriate authorized signatory of the employer organization.

c. Annual Report(s) in respect of the organization(s)

d. Organization Chart indicating the position in the organizational hierarchy duly certified by the authorized signatory of employer organization.

e. Salary slip for the beginning and last pay drawn from the organization(s)

f. Appointment letter from past/present employer.
