Is CA a post graduate degree ?

Hello Friends,

I Found the following question in one of the other professional discussion website. But this question was always on the back of my mind. Since I too always sometimes, while filling forms and like face the same problem, that whether a CA is a Post Graduate Degree or what??

Generally, when we fill out any application form where qualification is mentioned, I believe we normally check the box marked ''Professional''. Can we mark the box ''Post Graduate'' ?? Do or can we get any certificate from the Institute proving this ?? "

I recall reading in the institute bulletin itself that the CA degree is recognized by xxxx universities as a Post graduate degree for entry into their Ph.D programs but am not too sure.

Looking forward to your views and opinions...

Hello,

ICAI conducing examinations for enrolling associate members

if you pass the course you will become only member of the icai

there are not giving any degree but giving certificate

some universities recognised this certificates as equilent to degree/PG

THIS IS MORE THEN DEGREE OR PG, ITS CALLED PROFESSIONAL COURSE AND ICAI IS OWN BODY WHICH GIVE CERTIFICATE FROM ICAI HAVE WORLD WIDE SCOPE. SO DONT COMPARE TO DEGREE OR PG ITS MORE THEN THAT..BEST OF LUCK

Hello All,

Thanks for devoting your time for this point.

NO doubt CA is a bigger degree than PG but my doubt arises, whenever we go for any course which says that the eligibility is Post Graduate. In that they don't treat it as PG.

No doubt, CA degree is more than a PG, but while making eligibility in some cases, they are not eligible.

One such ex. is that in case you want to give Net Exams, fo lecturership, you must be PG. For that it is compulsory to have a PG degree, inspite of being a CA.

Another one, recently for CPA in US one of the state that previously allows Indian CA's to go for CPA has now removed Indian CA's from their eligibility list. But as per their eligibility requirements, it is possible that after credential evaluation some Bachelor or PG course may meet their requirements.

Also, consider a scenario (before AT certificate is implemented), in which a person who join CA and devoting 4-5 years of his life, and not going for any Bachelor or PG course, then even if after completing his CA, he is not eligible for many courses where Bachelor or PG degree is required.

Dear all, if we go as per university rules, ca is a post qualification degree. Mcom is a post graduation degree. If we CAs want to give NET/SET exams, we are not eligible for that whereas a Mcom cleared person is. This much is the difference between post qualification and post graduation degree.

Recognition of CA Course for pursuing Phd.

(I) The Association of Indian Universities has given recognition (AIU Letter No.EV/II(56-A)/83 dated 20.3.84) to those students who have passed their Final Examination of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, New Delhi and are graduates that they be treated to have completed a postgraduate degree in Commerce or allied disciplines for the purpose of registration to Ph.D
