Hi,  my actual work location is Tier-1 city but I work 99.99 percent work-from-home from Tier-2 city (rarely visit office). Also I'm paying montly rent and I do not own any house neither in work location and home location.  Can anyone please tell me whether am I eligible to do tax deduction for rent paid under section 80GG?

Yes. You can claim upto 60,000/- as per the rules specified in section 80GG.

Rent agreement/ receipt should be in your name
How to calculate 8 gg computation plse tell me
If you're in not receipt of HRA then 80GG can be claimed

My company provide HRA though I do not claim anything on that since as per HRA policy the employees house to be within 35 kms from office as far as I know.   So am I eligible to have 80GG tax deduction?

If you're in receipt of HRA, then 80GG cannot be claimed as HRA is a component of your salary

HRA component is not there in my payslip.  My company give HRA for employee who opt it, but I intentionally not opted-it since it is not applicable.  I am not declaring or claiming it as well.

So can I claim on 80GG?

In that case you can if you have not received HRA
Under section 80gg it is mentioned that "Rent paid reduced by 10% of Total Income before this deduction". May u please clarify what is the total income here. is it including deduction like 80c and other deduction or gross salary??
8GG is the lower of the following

a. Actual amou

b. 25% of total income

c. Rent paid - 10% of total income
