Hi,

I want to know if i use my own invoicing software to generate tax invoices, is it valid under GST? Do i have to keep a copy of the invoice i have generated for cross verification requirements of the GST department?

Yes... Why not...?!

If the Invoice is containing some of the details as per GST rule then You can follow or prepare the Invoice in Your Software...
No more restriction for any Formats...
I agree with Raja sir and Invoice should be as per given in the rule 46 of the CGST rules 2017 .

Do i have to print a duplicate copy and keep it in records for verification (case/scrutiny)?

Yes... You can...
At the time of preparing invoices You ll take at least 3 copies like Original to Receipient, Transporter Copy and Triplicate Copy in Seller's hand...

If my invoice dont have hsn code field, can i write the hsn code in descripttion below the commodity. eg

1 Gold necklace

HSN - 7113

If Your Turn Over is Above 1.5crs then The Column is mandatory in Invoice...

If You prepare invoice systematically then HSN code is always is print out. No need to put manually in system generated invoice...

I will print it but since my software dont have hsn code field and i cannot add it, can i type it under the particular commodity descripttion?

Yes if it is mandatory, you have to shown HSN code alongwith Item Descripttion. It your Software does not provide HSN code, you may type HSN code alongwith item name or  below Item Name Descripttion.
If all items in Invoiuce  have same HSN code you can write only once at top of first item descripttion or at bootam last line of Item descripttion and that should be clearly readble .
